The Genealogy Search

  Purchase agreement for home purchased by Frank and Eva Urman (Urman is the name Frank Yurmanovich changed to after he obtained citizenship in the United States).  The home was located at 2146 E 22nd Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The agreed purchase price in 1941 was $2,975.  I did a Google map search and unfortunately the home no longer exists.  I hope I can track down a picture of the home one of these days.

Clara Miottel cir 1910 and her bible she received at her confirmation.  I believe she attended the German Ev. Lutheran St. Matthews Church with Pastor H. Engelbrecht.  I know that her father married twice, each time at the St. Matthews. Now I need to locate the church's records and see what family information can be gleaned from them.  Birth information and death information indicate Clara spelled her name with a C.  I don't know why the bible is monogrammed with Klara with a "K".

I recently had to break into the treasure chest (The Bank) to pay for the archival framing of my Grandfather's souvenir sweetheart pillow from WWI purchased in France.  I previously posted a picture of this treasure on 4 March 20 10.  I paid extra to have additional stitching put in to support the lace, extra for the museum quality glass.  In two weeks I will have my treasure returned to me safety mounted to preserve it from additional harm.  My mother kept it folded in quarters in a cedar chest.  I am looking forward to having this treasure displayed on the wall rather than hidden away.   I have found that family treasures that I display in my home generate stories and information sharing.   This happens not only with family members but guests in my home.   I have learned about other grandfathers’ war experiences, the lives of my family members, and traditions within and outside the family. Sweetheart pillow cover from World War I brought back from France by William Adolph Skibbe.

Original receipt from Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park, Cook County, Illinois.  It is dated  2 Jun 1899 for purchase of plots in 1128, Section 9.  The receipt contains my Great Grandfather Theodor Miottel's signature and his brother Wilhelm Miottel.  

Grandfather William A. Skibbe, World War I soldier.  I am blessed to be the keeper of his pay record book and sleeve, dog tags, and sewing kit.
